OUR HISTORY
Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio is one of Italy’s leading football clubs and is internationally recognised for the excellence of its youth academy. Founded in 1907, it has achieved important results: at national level, the club ranked 3rd in Serie A four times (three years consecutively), and for six times was a Coppa Italia finalist: the team won the Cup during the 1962-1963 season. At an international level, Atalanta has been a regular participant in European championships (5 editions of the UEFA Champions League and 6 of the UEFA Europa League) and the winner of the prestigious UEFA Europa League for the 2023-2024 season.
Antonio Percassi wore the Nerazzurri striped jersey for 7 seasons (from 1971 to 1979), becoming a pillar of its defensive line. The Percassi family’s great love for Atalanta culminated in 1990, when they took over its management until 1994, and again in 2010, beginning a second tenure that continues to this day. Antonio’s son, Luca Percassi, inherited the same passion and became the team’s Managing Director in 2010. In 2022, the American Stephen Pagliuca, a prominent figure in the Bain Capital fund and shareholder of the historic NBA franchise, the Boston Celtics, became Co-Chairman.

The New Balance Arena, home ground of Atalanta, has a long and glorious history. Built in 1928, the city’s stadium, owned by the Club, has recently undergone a complete renovation project involving several areas. These include the total reconstruction of both ends – the North and South stands – as well as the construction of new underground parking facility and restyling of the grandstands.
Today, the New Balance Arena can accommodate around 25,000 spectators and has finally become a modern, international facility, and definitely the place to be!
